Description

OBM-U090

The Postium OBM-U Series is designed for UHD/4K production and broadcast QC monitoring and encompasses five models from 9” to 55”. The OBM-U090 and U170 display UHD/4K signals scaled-down to native 1920×1080 resolution. The U-240 and U550L both utilize native 3840×2160 UHD resolution and the U310 is native 4096×2160 4K-DCI resolution.

All five models are equipped with standard 12G/6G/3G-SDI input interfaces (x2) and HDMI 2.0 input and support both 4K Quad Link 2-Sample Interleave and 4K Quad Link Square Division signals via SDI and SFP (no SFP input on OBM-U090). Analog Composite/Component I/O supported in OBM-U090 ONLY.

Closed Captioning decode and display for CEA-708(HD-SDI closed captioning standard) and CEA-608(SD-SDI closed captioning standard) is supported via SDI input. The OBM-U series accepts up to 3840×2160/24,25,30,50,60p and 4096×2160/24.25.30,50,60p signals.

Display Functions

Wide Color Space Support including DCI-P3 and ITU-R BT.2020 is controlled with an advanced 3D LUT (Look Up Table) to reproduce various color spaces accurately with smooth, artifact-free grayscale steps. Available color gamuts are DCI-P3, ITU-R BT.2020, ITU-R BT.709, SMPTE-C, EBU, and Native.

3D Look-up Table import is supported for accurate and consistent color matching between individual displays as well as using customized ‘looks’ that have been created by 3rd party color-grading applications. 32ˆ³, 33ˆ³, 64ˆ³, 65ˆ³ cube file are supported.

In addition, the OBM-U series has Built-in Camera Log to Linear conversion LUTs from various camera manufacturers including Log-C, C-Log / S-Log2, S-Log3 / J-Log1 and more.

The LUT-converted content can then be output to downstream devices/monitors via the SDI loop out.

Internal Video Processing Time

High Dynamic Range (HDR) Emulation applies a High Dynamic Range display gamma curve to HDR content. The OBM-U Series supports PQ EOTF (SMPTE ST 2084), Hybrid Log Gamma and S-Log3. Postium’s HDR function allows users to view both highlights and shadow details within scenes simultaneously, thus resulting in more natural and realistic reproduction.

HDR Display modes provide both full-frame HDR and SDR viewing as well as simultaneous side-by-side split screen comparison.

Color Space / Dynamic Range / Gamma Comparison (Side by Side, Wipe position) allows users to compare different color spaces, gammas, HDR / SDR, camera logs, and other color settings side by side simultaneously. The comparison area can be selected and moved with a vertical wipe pattern.

Focus Assist controls the aperture level of a video signal and displays images on screen with sharpened edges to help camera focus operation.

False Color indicates the Luma (Y) level of the input image. If a certain Y level is set, the pixels with the designated Luma (Y) level are displayed with a zebra pattern or a color pattern. There are display modes – Zebra, Variable, ARRI, and Comparison.

Gamut Error Type can be observed in 3 modes. In Type 1, when the targeted color space is selected as BT.709, the pixels outside of the targeted color space are displayed as Black Zebra.

The pixels over Y Maximum, Chroma Maximum, RGB Maximum are displayed as Black Zebra, and the pixels below Y Minimum, Chroma Minimum, RGB Minimum are also displayed as Black Zebra.

In Type 2, when the targeted color space is selected as BT.709, the pixels outside of the targeted color space are displayed as Black or White Zebra.

The pixels over Y Maximum, Chroma Maximum, RGB Maximum are displayed as Black Zebra, and the pixels below Y Minimum, Chroma Minimum, RGB Minimum are displayed as White Zebra.

In Type 3: Mono, when the targeted color space is selected as BT.709, the pixels inside of the targeted color space are displayed as Mono, and the pixels outside of the targeted color space are displayed as the color. In this type, black and white area is not recognized.

Black Stretch increases visibility in dark areas without degradation of image quality in bright areas. This mode can be used to increase shadow detail without changing absolute black level and without affecting mid-tones.

4K HDR Waveform Monitor and Vector Scope Display modes enable users to monitor sources using the internal Waveform and Vector Scope individually or simultaneously. Waveform Wide mode is also supported on the OBM-U170.

The position of Waveform and Vector Scope can be moved between Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Right, and Bottom Left.

Adjustable Gamma control allows for incremental compensation between gamma correction values of 1.0 and 3.0 — thereby ensuring that the decoded image isn’t too bright (no gamma correction) or too dark (over correction).

Scan Mode allows full frame viewing of 4096 x 2160 (1.89:1) signals fed to the 1920×1080 (16:9) resolution screen. When Zero Scan mode is selected, the entire picture is displayed on the screen, maintaining a 1.89:1 ratio.

Various Frame Markers/Mattes are available on the OBM-U series, including aspect, area, and center markers. In addition, the detailed display settings of each marker are allowed. For example, the color, brightness, horizontal/vertical position, and thickness of aspect markers can all be adjusted.

Input Signal Format Support

The OBM-U series is equipped with standard 12G-SDI input interface(x2), 3G/HD-SDI input interface(x2) and support 4K Quad Link 2-Sample Interleave signals and 4K Quad Link Square Division signals. Resolutions up to 3840×2160/24,25,30,50,60p and 4096×2160/24.25.30,50,60p signals are supported.

Single Link 4K/12G

Dual Link 2-Sample Interleave (2SI) up to 2160/60p.

Quad Link 2 Sample Interleave (2SI) uses four ¼ resolution full-frame sub-images and alternates the samples every two pixels and every line rather than splitting the image into four quadrants.

Quad Link Square Division. Each link contains one quarter square of the original image.

12G-SDI (ST 2022-6) over IP is supported in the OBM-U series via an SFP interface, which allows the use of various SFP modules. The OBM-U series monitors can display the 12G-SDI over fiber and the 12G-SDI Single Link over IP through the integrated SFP interface.

The Fast Mode Function (OBM-U090 / U170 / U171 ONLY) is designed to minimize interlaced video processing time delay. This mode is also useful when displaying fast-motion interlaced video content and to reduce the delay between video and audio.
